Description
Axcis Education is looking for a caring and committed SEND Early Years Assistant to join a brand-new specialist provision in Gloucestershire. This exciting setting supports children with a range of complex needs, including Severe Learning Disabilities (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), and additional medical or sensory needs.
This purpose-built environment is designed to give children the very best start to their learning journey, with specialist facilities such as sensory spaces and therapeutic resources. The focus is on providing personalised, play-based and developmental learning opportunities that help children grow in independence, communication, and confidence.
Key Responsibilities
Support children aged 2–5 with complex SEND needs in a safe and nurturing environment
Assist with play-based and sensory learning activities, tailored to each child’s EHCP outcomes
Promote communication, interaction, physical and sensory development
Provide support with routines, transitions, and self-care/personal care as required
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and support staff to deliver a holistic curriculum
Monitor and record children’s progress, sharing insights to inform future planning
What We’re Looking For
Experience of working with young children, ideally in early years, childcare or SEND settings (desirable but not essential)
A patient, empathetic and adaptable approach to supporting children with additional needs
Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
Willingness to learn and develop knowledge of SEND and therapeutic approaches
Flexibility, resilience and a genuine passion for helping children flourish
