Location: Wallington, SM6
Hours: 11:30am – 1:30pm
Additional Hours: Potential additional hours may be available
Start Date: September 2026

Are you passionate about supporting pupils with SEND and looking for flexible work within a specialist school?

A welcoming and supportive specialist school in Wallington is looking for a caring and reliable SEND Teaching Assistant to provide lunch cover for pupils with SEMH, ASD and complex additional needs, including pupils who are non-verbal.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant, SEND professional, support worker, carer or someone with personal SEND experience who is looking for part-time or flexible work.

The Role

As a SEND Lunch Cover Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Support pupils during lunchtime and unstructured periods
• Provide support to pupils with SEMH and ASD
• Support non-verbal pupils with communication and interaction
• Help pupils regulate and manage their emotions
• Encourage positive social interaction and independence
• Support pupils to have a safe and positive lunchtime experience
• Help with personal care where required
• Monitor pupils and respond appropriately to their individual needs
• Work closely with teachers and the wider support team
• Provide a calm, patient and consistent presence throughout lunchtime

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is:

• Caring, patient and reliable
• Experienced working with pupils with SEND, SEMH or ASD
• Comfortable supporting non-verbal pupils
• Calm and confident when supporting emotional regulation
• Able to build positive relationships with pupils
• Proactive and able to work independently
• A strong team player with good communication skills
• Reliable and committed to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing

Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, support worker, carer or parent of a child with SEND is welcomed.
