Secondary SEND Teacher – Specialist School
Location: TW10
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Temp to Perm
Pay: Paid to Scale
Hours: 8:30am – 4:00pm (Full Time)
We are currently seeking a committed and resilient Secondary SEND Teacher to join a well-established specialist school in the TW10 area on a temp to perm basis.
This provision supports secondary-aged pupils with a range of complex needs, including:
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Non-verbal communication needs
Complex Down’s Syndrome
SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health)
High needs and challenging behaviours
This is a rewarding but demanding role, requiring a confident practitioner with strong behaviour management skills and experience delivering highly differentiated learning at secondary level.
The Role:
Planning and delivering personalised, engaging lessons aligned to EHCP outcomes
Adapting the secondary curriculum to meet a wide range of learning abilities
Supporting non-verbal pupils using alternative communication strategies (PECS, Makaton, AAC)
Managing challenging behaviour in a structured and therapeutic manner
Working closely with Teaching Assistants, therapists and the wider multidisciplinary team
Tracking progress and maintaining accurate records
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
QTS or recognised equivalent teaching qualification
Experience teaching within a secondary SEND or specialist setting
Strong understanding of ASD and complex needs
Confident classroom and behaviour management skills
A calm, patient and resilient approach
A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs
This is an excellent opportunity for a Secondary SEND Teacher seeking a long-term role paid to scale, with the opportunity to secure a permanent contract within a supportive specialist setting.
