Description
Teaching Assistant – Challenging Behaviour
Location: Islington
Salary: £13.69/hour (PAYE)
Hours: 9:30am–2:30pm or 8:30am–3:30pm
Axcis are working with a unique school offering bespoke education for each and every one of the young person who attends. The school is set up to provide education for just 25 students with autism and diverse learning profiles. They have come to our setting to benefit from a wholly student-centred approach to learning.
Our students typically have a profile that includes a combination of:
• Sensory Processing Differences – how we take in information, how we process it, and how we respond.
• Emotional Regulation Differences – how we manage our emotions, react to our feelings, and understand others.
• Differences in Communication and Interaction – how we understand communication and expression, articulate who we are, and interact with the world around us.
We are now looking for a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team, supporting both primary and secondary-aged students with complex SEND needs.
In this role, you will support students across different age groups, helping to meet their individual educational, sensory, and emotional needs. You will contribute to a nurturing and highly personalised learning environment, working alongside an experienced team who share a commitment to helping our young people flourish. Some students may require personal care, and staff receive training and support to deliver this confidently and respectfully.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide individual and group support to primary and secondary-aged students with complex SEND needs.
• Assist with personal care tasks, ensuring students’ dignity, comfort, and safety.
• Work closely with teachers, therapists, and the SENCO to deliver adapted learning strategies and bespoke resources.
• Help create an inclusive, therapeutic, and supportive learning environment where every learner feels understood and valued.
Requirements
• Experience working with children with SEND, particularly those with complex needs across varying age groups.
• A caring, patient, and resilient approach, with willingness to support personal care where required.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• A genuine passion for helping students with SEND grow in confidence, independence, and wellbeing.
If you’re committed to making a meaningful difference and want to be part of a truly special school community, we would love to hear from you.
