Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant – Construction Pathway
Location: Sutton, South London
Hours: Monday to Friday | 8:30am – 4:00pm
Contract: Full-Time | Long-Term
Start Date: September 2025
Are you passionate about supporting young people with additional needs in a vocational setting? A high-performing multi-academy trust in Sutton, with an Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ reputation, is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support students studying Construction within their PRU/Alternative Provision and specialist settings.
This role is ideal for a confident, proactive individual who can build positive relationships with learners who thrive in hands-on environments. You will support the instructor and help students with SEMH, autism, ADHD, and other needs to stay engaged and develop practical skills.
Responsibilities:
• Support students 1:1 and in small groups during practical construction sessions
• Encourage engagement, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour
• Assist with classroom management, lesson prep, and EHCP implementation
• Collaborate with staff to maintain a safe, inclusive, and purposeful learning environment
Requirements:
• Experience working with SEND or in an alternative provision setting
• Understanding of vocational or construction-based learning
• Strong behaviour management and a calm, consistent approach
• Enhanced DBS (Child & Adult Workforce) on the Update Service (or willing to obtain)
