We have a SEND Teaching Assistant vacancy at a mainstream primary school in Central Birmingham. The school is looking for a SEND teaching assistant with experience of working with individuals with Complex Autism, including needs such as non-verbal communication and challenging behaviour.
The role is based within the schools Reception class, working through the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), the school is looking for candidates familiar with developmental support of young children as well as experience in supporting autistic young children with complex additional needs such as challenging behaviour, non/pre-verbal communication. As with all roles with young children, this will be an active role and will require high levels of attention.
Job details:
• Support role for pupils within reception
• Working with children pre-autism diagnosis or with a diagnosis of autism who have complex additional needs such as challenging behaviour and non/pre-verbal communication
• Full time (8:15am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday)
• Ongoing basis, starting ASAP
Requirements:
• Experience of working with active young children – Essential
• Experience of working with individuals with ASD and using visual communication aids – Essential
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service required or we’re happy to carry out a new one ahead of you starting the position – Essential
• Minimum of 2 good references – Essential
