Make a Real Difference Every Day!
Axcis Education is recruiting caring, enthusiastic and adaptable SEND Teaching Assistants to work across a specialist school and college setting in Exeter.
This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting children and young adults with a range of complex additional needs.
The setting supports pupils with a variety of needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and other complex needs. Some pupils may also present with physical needs and require additional support throughout the school day.
With small class sizes and high staffing levels, you will be joining a well-supported environment where staff work closely together to provide individualised care, learning and development opportunities.
The Role
No two days will necessarily be the same! You will need to be flexible and comfortable working across different classes and sites, providing support wherever it is needed.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Supporting pupils and students with a wide range of complex SEND needs.
• Providing 1:1 and small-group support within classroom settings.
• Assisting with learning, communication, social development and independence.
• Supporting pupils with physical needs and personal care where required.
• Helping pupils regulate their emotions and feel safe and supported.
• Adapting to different classrooms, age groups and individual needs.
• Moving between the school and college sites to support staffing requirements and fill gaps where needed.
• Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff and other professionals.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for people who are:
• Experienced in supporting children or young adults with SEND and complex needs.
• Patient, caring, resilient and understanding.
• Adaptable and happy to work across different classes and sites.
• Confident responding to changing situations and pupil needs.
• Proactive, reliable and willing to get stuck in.
• Positive team players with a genuine passion for making a difference.
Experience supporting ASC, MLD, PMLD or pupils with physical disabilities would be highly beneficial.
Most importantly, we want people with the right attitude, a willingness to learn and the flexibility to support wherever they are needed.
What's on Offer?
• £92–£100 per day, depending on experience.
• Full-time and part-time opportunities.
• Working hours of 8:30am–3:30pm.
• Small class sizes with high staff-to-pupil ratios.
• Experience across both school and college settings.
• Ongoing support from a dedicated Axcis Education consultant.
• A rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference.
