SEND Teaching Assistant – SEMH & Behaviour Support – Primary – Wigan
£93–£110 per day | Full-Time | Long-Term
Axcis are working with a well-led and supportive primary school in Wigan who are seeking a resilient and personable SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs.
The school has a strong pastoral approach, with clear behaviour systems and a leadership team that are visible and supportive. Staff are encouraged to build positive, consistent relationships with pupils, creating a stable and structured learning environment.
The school is not easily accessible via local transport routes, so ideal candidates would be able to drive or be willing to travel for more than 30 minutes via public transport. On-site parking is offered.
About the Role
You will be working closely with pupils who require additional support with emotional regulation, behaviour and engagement within the classroom. This is a relationship-led role, ideal for someone who can remain calm, consistent and patient.
You will:
• Support pupils with SEMH needs on a 1:1 and small-group basis
• Implement behaviour strategies and support emotional regulation
• Encourage engagement in learning activities
• Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO
