SEND Teaching Assistant

Here at Axcis Education, we are recruiting for full-time and part-time teaching assistants to work with students aged 5-11 with additional needs at a primary school in the Wigan area. The students in this school have a range of special needs such as autism, challenging behaviour and social, emotional and mental health needs. Pay rates begin at £89 per day and may increase depending on experience. Transport links are offered from Wigan city centre and surrounding areas, and free parking is provided on site.
You will be required to work with the pupils in a range of lessons and support the teacher in the delivery of engaging activities. The candidate ideally would need experience working with children with challenging behaviour and SEMH. The role will start as soon as possible and candidates applying for this role must be available to work 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday – Friday.
The ideal candidate will have:
• Brilliant communication skills, empathy and patience
• An Enhanced DBS check on the update service (if you do not have this, we can guide you through the process)
• Prior classroom-based experience and/or experience working with people with SEND
• A genuine desire to make a difference to young people’s lives
Those from backgrounds such as care, coaching, youth work and support work are also encouraged to apply.
