Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teaching Assistant to join our team at a vibrant SEND school located in Kirkham, Preston. As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the educational development and wellbeing of children with a range of learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and behavioural challenges.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the delivery of tailored educational programs created by the lead teacher to meet the individual needs of students.
Provide one-to-one or small group support to students, encouraging independent learning and positive behaviour.
Develop and maintain effective communication with teachers, therapists, parents, and carers regarding students' progress, needs, and development.
Prepare learning materials and adapt resources to ensure accessibility for all students.
Supervise students during lessons, breaks, and activities, ensuring their safety and facilitating social interaction.
Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and contribute to review meetings.
Monitor and support the emotional and social development of students, reporting any concerns to the relevant staff member.
Attend and actively participate in training sessions and staff meetings.
Help to maintain a clean, orderly, and stimulating learning environment.
Requirements:
Experience working with children, particularly in an SEND setting or in support of those with additional learning needs.
NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or a willingness to work towards this qualification.
Strong understanding of the educational and welfare needs of children with SEND.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with individuals at all levels.
A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to working with children with a range of needs.
An enhanced DBS check (or be willing to undergo checks).
