Senior Employee Relations Manager
Location: Northampton (3 days on-site)
Salary: Up to £85,000
Contract type: Interim and Permanent applications considered

Are you a senior ER professional ready to take the lead in transforming how Employee Relations operates? We’re looking for a strategic, forward-thinking ER Manager to join a growing HR function and shape the future of employee relations within a dynamic and evolving organisation.

This is a pivotal role for someone with the experience and credibility to drive a new ER model, act as a trusted partner to senior leaders, and provide a strong, strategic voice for ER across the business. You’ll be working with an experienced team who handle day-to-day casework confidently—what they need now is a leader who can guide them toward best practice, challenge thinking, and elevate capability.

What you’ll be doing:
Designing and delivering a new ER operating model, including triage, resource planning and ways of working.

Acting as a senior voice in stakeholder discussions and providing expert consultation on risk, policy, and legislation.

Leading, developing, and coaching a team of 5 ER professionals (3 Senior ER Specialists, 2 ER Specialists).

Supporting and challenging HRBPs and business leaders on complex and strategic ER issues.

Overseeing employment policy reviews, case management insights, and continuous improvements.

Playing a lead role in change projects, such as integrating newly acquired business units into the ER function.

Developing ER reporting dashboards and insight to drive strategic decision-making.

Leading supplier reviews (case management systems, occupational health providers, etc.).

Staying ahead of legislative changes and leading the organisation’s response—including labour reforms and potential union activity.

About you:
Experienced ER specialist with proven leadership in a complex, fast-paced organisation.

Comfortable operating at senior levels, challenging constructively and influencing decisions.

Strong understanding of UK employment law, best practice, and case strategy.

Skilled in building capability across ER and line management teams.

Confident managing external providers and using data to drive outcomes.

Naturally curious, resilient, and solutions-focused with a passion for transformation.

What you’ll need:
CIPD Level 5 (essential).

Strong ER leadership experience and a history of driving ER transformation.

Experience using ER case management systems.

Exceptional communication, coaching and stakeholder management skills.

A commercial and pragmatic approach to risk and employee relations strategy.

This is an exciting opportunity for a confident ER leader to build something new, influence at the highest levels, and leave a lasting legacy. If you're ready to lead change, stretch a capable team, and embed ER as a true business partner, we want to hear from you.
