Hours: 8:30am – 4:00pm, Monday to Friday
Salary: £89 – £95 per day (PAYE), depending on experience
A vibrant and inclusive primary school is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join the team from September to provide support for students with speech, language, and communication needs. This full-time role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine impact on pupils' development and confidence within a nurturing school environment.
Working closely with class teachers and the school's SEN team, the successful applicant will support a range of learners, including those who are non-verbal or have delayed communication. Experience with alternative communication strategies such as PECS or Makaton is highly desirable, though not essential. A strong understanding of supporting individuals with speech and language needs is crucial.
Key responsibilities include:
• Providing tailored support to students with speech and language difficulties
• Assisting with the implementation of EHCP targets and specialist interventions
• Supporting access to the curriculum across a range of subjects
• Fostering communication and social skills through structured and informal interaction
• Liaising with speech and language therapists and other external professionals as required
Candidates must hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one prior to starting. Previous experience in a similar role within a primary or specialist setting is advantageous.
