We’re recruiting enthusiastic individuals for a Sports Coach / Behaviour Mentor role at a specialist provision in BS35 (near Thornbury, South Gloucestershire). If you’re active, resilient, and want to make a real impact—this could be the opportunity for you.

?? Hours: Full-time and part-time (Mon–Fri, 08:30–15:30)
?? Pay: £89 per day (dependent on experience and qualifications)
?? Must drive and have access to a car

?? About the Provision
This is a specialist setting that supports young people aged 11–19 with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC), SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs, and associated learning differences. The school offers tailored academic, therapeutic, and vocational education that allows each learner to progress at their own pace.

Set in a semi-rural location just outside Thornbury, the site features quiet learning spaces, therapy rooms, and open outdoor areas—ideal for sport and movement-based interventions. Many students have had disrupted educational journeys and benefit significantly from positive role models and active, engaging support.

?? Your Role
As a Sports Coach / Behaviour Mentor, you’ll:

Use physical activity, games, and routines to engage and support students

Help young people build self-esteem, emotional regulation, and positive habits

Support learning in and out of the classroom with a trauma-informed approach

Be a consistent, reliable adult presence for students who often struggle with trust

Reinforce behavioural expectations through calm communication and structure

?? Ideal Backgrounds Include:
You might have experience in one or more of the following areas:

Sports coaching / PE instruction

Youth work or mentoring

Psychology, criminology, or social science graduates

Behaviour support in education or care

Supporting children or adults with ASC/ADHD/SEMH

Outdoor or adventure-based learning programmes

? What You’ll Gain

Weekly pay at a starting rate of £83.40/day (rising to £89/day)

Social working hours: Monday–Friday, 08:30–15:30
