Axcis Education is recruiting a Sports-Focused Teaching Assistant to join a primary school in Bristol (BS13) from November 2025. This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 3:30 pm, initially on a temporary contract with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
About the Role
As a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant, you will:
• Provide 1:1 support and small group interventions for pupils with challenging behaviour and SEMH needs.
• Use sport and physical activity as a therapeutic tool to encourage positive behaviour, teamwork, and engagement.
• Help create a safe and structured learning environment through proactive behaviour management.
• Monitor and track pupil progress, adapting support plans where necessary.
• Collaborate with teachers, families, and external professionals to provide a consistent, holistic approach.
• Act as a positive role model, building trust and encouraging resilience in pupils.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a Teaching Assistant in Bristol who has:
• Previous experience supporting children or young people with challenging behaviour or SEMH needs.
• A passion for sport, fitness, or physical activity and an understanding of how it can positively influence behaviour.
• A patient, resilient, and flexible approach.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• An Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply).
