Teacher of Food and Nutrition (Fixed Term)
Location: WA15, Greater Manchester
Contract: Fixed Term (January 2026 – July 2026)
Position: Full-Time
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
Start Date: January 2026
We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Teacher of Food and Nutrition to join a welcoming and supportive team at a Catholic secondary school in the WA15 area. This is a full-time, fixed-term role from January 2026 to July 2026, offering an excellent chance to work in a nurturing environment committed to the development of both students and staff.
About the Role:
As the Teacher of Food and Nutrition, you will be responsible for teaching Food and Nutrition to students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, with the possibility of teaching Key Stage 5 depending on your experience and expertise.
You will play an integral role in delivering the Food and Nutrition curriculum, focusing on developing students' practical skills in cooking, food science, and nutrition, as well as promoting healthy living and making informed food choices. The department is known for its supportive atmosphere, where creativity, passion, and a love of food are at the heart of every lesson.
Key Responsibilities:
Teach Food and Nutrition across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (KS3 & KS4), and potentially Key Stage 5 (KS5) depending on your qualifications and experience.
Deliver engaging lessons that foster both the theoretical and practical aspects of food science, nutrition, and cooking.
Assess students’ progress and provide constructive feedback to ensure continued development and success.
Collaborate with colleagues in the department to plan and deliver cohesive and engaging schemes of work.
Contribute to the school community by attending departmental meetings, participating in school events, and supporting wider school initiatives.
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
A relevant degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Health, or a related field is essential.
Experience teaching Food and Nutrition at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 is essential.
KS5 teaching experience is desirable, but not essential.
DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one) is required.
A commitment to working collaboratively within the Food and Nutrition department and contributing to the wider school community.
Passion for food and nutrition education and a desire to inspire students in the classroom.
