A secondary school in Knowsley is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team this Autumn, supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviour. This is a rewarding, full-time role suited to someone who is calm, resilient, and motivated to make a lasting difference.
Your Role Will Involve
• Providing consistent 1:1 and small-group support to students with SEMH needs
• Supporting the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
• Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation through clear boundaries, guidance, and praise
• Helping to create a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment
• Building strong, trusting relationships to support academic and personal development
• Working closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to monitor progress and adapt strategies
What We’re Looking For
• Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH and/or challenging behaviour
• A calm, resilient, and empathetic approach to support and guidance
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly
• Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and inclusive teaching practices
• A genuine commitment to helping every student access learning and achieve their potential
