Teaching Assistant – Special Needs Support

Axcis Education is recruiting confident, motivated Teaching Assistants to support pupils with additional needs within a large, mainstream secondary school in Knowsley. The school offers a supportive, well-resourced environment where inclusion is central and staff are encouraged to develop their skills and progress professionally.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with pupils who require additional support, helping them thrive both academically and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support tailored to individual pupil needs
• Support students with SEMH, ASD, and ADHD, helping them manage emotions and behaviour positively
• Assist with the KS3 curriculum, promoting engagement and academic progress
• Implement positive behaviour management strategies to maintain a structured, supportive learning environment
• Build strong, trusting relationships that encourage resilience, independence, and personal growth

What We’re Looking For
• Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, ASD, or ADHD
• A calm, empathetic, and professional approach to supporting learning and behaviour
• The ability to act as a positive role model, motivating pupils to achieve their best
• A genuine commitment to pupils’ personal, social, and emotional development

Requirements
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply—support provided)
• Previous experience in a school, education, or care setting supporting children with additional needs
• Strong behaviour management and communication skills
• Enthusiasm for creating an inclusive, safe, and engaging learning environment
