Are you an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with Autism?
Axcis Education is working with a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Southville, Bristol (BS3) to recruit a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support two Year 3 pupils with Autism.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys building positive relationships with children and is passionate about helping pupils with SEND access learning, develop their independence and thrive within a mainstream school environment.
About the Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:
• Support two Year 3 pupils with Autism throughout the school day
• Provide targeted 1:1 and small-group support depending on the needs of the pupils
• Adapt classroom activities and learning resources to make them accessible and engaging
• Support pupils with communication, social interaction, emotional regulation and independence
• Use positive and consistent strategies to encourage engagement and positive behaviour
• Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider school team to provide consistent support
• Help create a calm, inclusive and nurturing classroom environment
The Ideal Candidate
We're looking for someone who:
• Has previous experience supporting children with Autism or other SEND needs
• Is patient, calm and compassionate
• Can build strong and trusting relationships with primary-aged pupils
• Understands the importance of consistency, routine and clear communication
• Can adapt their approach to meet individual pupils' needs
• Works well as part of a team and is committed to inclusive education
• Is passionate about helping children develop confidence and independence
