Axcis Education is proud to be working in partnership with a specialist alternative provision in Bristol that supports Key Stage 4 pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and complex behavioural challenges. We are currently seeking a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis.
About the Role
As a Teaching Assistant within this alternative provision, you will:
• Provide targeted 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs, helping them to re-engage with education.
• Support the delivery of individualised learning and behaviour plans alongside teaching and pastoral staff.
• Use de-escalation and positive behaviour strategies to manage challenging situations safely and effectively.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, acting as a consistent, positive role model.
• Support pupils’ emotional regulation, resilience and personal development.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
• Has experience working with young people with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour or in alternative provision settings.
• Is calm, empathetic and resilient, with the ability to remain professional under pressure.
• Can communicate effectively and work collaboratively as part of a wider team.
• Holds relevant training such as Team Teach or a Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification (desirable but not essential, as training can be provided).
