Job Title: Teaching Assistant - Primary
Location: SEND Primary School – Oldham
Contract: Full-time

Are you someone who’s patient, caring and passionate about making a difference in children's lives?

A specialist primary school in Oldham is looking for a dedicated SEND Support Assistant to join their team full-time. The school supports children with a range of additional needs including SEMH, Autism and ADHD, and is looking for someone who can offer a calm and supportive presence and work 1:1 or in small groups with students who need a bit of extra help.

About the Role:
This is a hands-on role working closely with pupils who may need support managing emotions, staying focused, or feeling settled in the school environment. You’ll help build positive relationships, support their learning and contribute to a safe and encouraging space where they can thrive.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

- Supporting students with SEMH, ADHD and autism, mostly 1:1 or in small groups

- Helping pupils stay engaged in lessons and activities, adapting approaches where needed

- Building strong, trusting relationships with children and supporting their emotional wellbeing

- Assisting the class teacher with basic classroom duties

- Contributing to behaviour strategies and positive reinforcement

- Supporting with routines, transitions and personal development

Who We’re Looking For:
This role is open to all background, whether you’ve worked in education, health care, youth work or even if you’ve volunteered with children. What matters most is your patience, your willingness to learn, and your genuine interest in supporting children with additional needs.

We’re especially keen to hear from you if you:

- Have volunteer or paid experience supporting children or young people

- Are a good communicator, calm under pressure, and enjoy working as part of a team

- Understand or are open to learning about Autism, ADHD and SEMH needs

- Are willing to support children emotionally, socially and academically

- Have a DBS or are happy to apply for one before starting

This is a brilliant opportunity to start or build a career in SEND education, especially in a school where every day is different and every bit of support you offer makes a real impact.
