Job Title: Teaching Assistant - Secondary Special Needs
Location: Rochdale, Lancashire
Salary: £90 per day (PAYE)
Contract Type: Full Time, Monday-Friday, 8:30 am - 3:30 pm
Permanency: Permanent opportunities available
About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team within a secondary school located in Rochdale, Lancashire. This role focuses on providing support to small groups of students aged 11-16 with various special educational needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health issues), challenging behaviour, and physical disabilities. Successful candidates will work within a classroom setting consisting of 5-10 students, ensuring a nurturing and structured environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the delivery of personalized educational plans for students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP).
- Facilitate inclusive learning experiences that cater to individual student needs.
- Help manage classroom behaviour to ensure a safe and positive learning environment.
- Support students with physical disabilities, which may include assistance with mobility or adapting materials.
- Work in collaboration with the teaching staff and other professionals to promote student development.
- Encourage students to engage in the curriculum and work towards their educational goals.
- Assist with the monitoring and reporting of student progress.
- Be a role model and establish positive relationships with young people, contributing to their social and emotional well-being.
Requirements:
- UK-based experience working with young people with additional needs is essential.
- Classroom-based experience is highly desirable but not essential.
- Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to undergo a new DBS check.
- A patient, empathetic approach, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Commitment to continual professional development and learning.
