We are working with a well-established all-through special needs school in Woodford Green, who are seeking a skilled and committed TA to join their supportive team this September.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference, supporting students with complex needs in an inclusive environment where every learner is valued and encouraged to succeed.

About the Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support students across a range of age groups, working closely with individuals who are non-verbal or have significant communication and developmental needs.

You’ll collaborate with teachers, therapists, and support staff to deliver personalised learning approaches and communication strategies that enable each pupil to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support, tailored to individual learning and communication needs
• Support non-verbal students using alternative communication methods
• Assist in delivering structured, engaging, and accessible learning activities
• Promote emotional regulation, independence, and confidence
• Help maintain a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and wider support teams

What We’re Looking For

• Experience working in an SEN setting (school, specialist provision, or alternative provision)
• Confidence supporting non-verbal students across different age ranges
• Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, or other communication tools (highly desirable)
• A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs

Why Apply?

• Join a welcoming and experienced specialist school team
• Work in a setting that prioritises inclusion and individual progress
• Gain valuable experience supporting complex needs and communication development
• Make a meaningful and lasting impact on students’ lives

If you’re passionate about supporting students with SEN and want to be part of a nurturing and collaborative environment, we’d love to hear from you.
