SEN Teaching Assistant – All-Through Special Needs School
Location: Woodford Green
Contract: Full-Time

We are working with a well-established all-through special needs school in Woodford Green, who are seeking a skilled and committed TA to join their supportive team this September.

About the Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support students across a range of age groups, working closely with individuals who are non-verbal or have significant communication and developmental needs.
You’ll collaborate with teachers, therapists, and support staff to deliver personalised learning approaches and communication strategies that enable each pupil to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide 1:1 and small group support, tailored to individual learning and communication needs
• Support non-verbal students using alternative communication methods
• Assist in delivering structured, engaging, and accessible learning activities
• Promote emotional regulation, independence, and confidence
• Help maintain a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and wider support teams
What We’re Looking For
• Experience working in an SEN setting (school, specialist provision, or alternative provision)
• Confidence supporting non-verbal students across different age ranges
• Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, or other communication tools (highly desirable)
• A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
