Axcis Education is partnering with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Southmead, Bristol, to recruit a full-time Teaching Assistant to support pupils with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN). This role will start in November 2025 and runs Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 3:30 pm, term-time only.
About the Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will:
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to children with a range of speech and language needs.
• Use visual supports, simplified instructions, and repetition to aid communication and learning.
• Deliver activities and programmes designed by the school’s Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) team.
• Encourage participation, confidence, and independence in both classroom and social settings.
• Collaborate with teachers, the SENCO, and parents to ensure consistent, child-centred support.
• Create a positive, language-rich environment where every pupil feels included and valued.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
• Has experience supporting children with speech and language difficulties in a primary or nursery setting (highly desirable).
• Brings patience, empathy, and creativity when helping children communicate and learn.
• Can adapt support strategies to suit individual needs.
• Is a strong team player with excellent communication skills.
• Holds (or is willing to apply for) an Enhanced DBS.
