Job role: 1:1 Teaching Assistant – SEND Support (KS1)
Location: Bridgwater
Pay Rate: £89 per day
Job Type: Part-time – Term Time Only (Temporary or Long-term)
Hours: 8:45am – 3:30pm (Monday to Friday, term time)

Are you passionate about supporting young children with additional needs in a nurturing and close-knit school environment? We are seeking a calm, experienced, and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a small, rural primary school in Bridgwater, providing 1:1 support for a Key Stage 1 pupil with autism, ADHD, and associated behavioural needs.

About the Role:

You will play a vital part in supporting a KS1 child to access learning and thrive in a structured, caring environment. Working alongside a class teacher and several other TAs, your focus will be to build trust, provide consistent emotional and behavioural support, and help the pupil feel safe and included throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver 1:1 tailored support to a KS1 pupil with complex SEND needs
• Collaborate with the teacher and SENCO to implement structured routines and behaviour strategies
• Encourage engagement, emotional regulation, and social development
• Provide in-class support, manage transitions, and help with playtimes and routines
• Help foster a calm, safe and structured environment that promotes learning
Who We’re Looking For:
• A calm, consistent, and compassionate individual with a nurturing approach
• Experience working with children with autism, ADHD, or challenging behaviour
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to respond flexibly and proactively to changing needs throughout the day
• A genuine commitment to inclusive education and supporting vulnerable pupils
• Willingness to undertake training such as safeguarding or behaviour management
