Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Location: Salisbury, Wiltshire
Employment Type: Full-time
Hours: 8.30am - 3.30pm

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic team in Salisbury, Wiltshire, who is particularly experienced in working with students who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the academic and personal development of students, helping to foster a nurturing learning environment that accommodates the needs of all pupils.

Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the classroom teacher to deliver educational support to individuals or groups of students with SEMH.
- Assist in creating and maintaining a structured, supportive and safe learning environment for students.
- Employ effective behaviour management techniques to promote positive behaviours and a productive classroom atmosphere.
- Facilitate the learning process by providing the necessary resources and guidance to students.
- Monitor and track student progress, reporting any concerns or achievements to the classroom teacher and other relevant staff.
- Communicate regularly with parents, teachers, and professionals to provide updates on student progress and contribute to student planning where necessary.
- Take part in school meetings and professional development opportunities to better support students with SEMH.
- Assist in the preparation of materials and the setup of the learning environment to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Follow the school's policies and procedures, including safeguarding and confidentiality regulations, to ensure student welfare.

Requirements:
- Relevant qualification in Teaching Assistance or equivalent. Experience in working with children with SEMH is highly desirable.
- Understanding and experience of implementing successful behaviour management strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, staff, and parents.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Patience, resilience, and adaptability in managing challenging situations.
- Commitment to the social and academic development of all students.
- A valid DBS check or willingness to undergo one.
