Job Title: Teaching Assistant - ASD/SEND Specialist (1:1 Support)
Location: Manchester, Greater Manchester
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)? Do you have experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team in Manchester, Greater Manchester, to provide one-on-one support and make a positive impact on our students' educational experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored educational support to a designated student with ASD/SEND, addressing their individual learning needs and helping them achieve their full potential.
- Work closely with the lead teacher to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and adapt teaching materials and methods to meet the student's needs.
- Provide emotional and behavioral support to the student, encouraging positive interactions and fostering a nurturing learning environment.
- Assist with the development of social skills by facilitating appropriate peer interactions and supporting the student during group activities.
- Monitor and record the student's progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents/guardians, and contributing to review meetings.
- Support the student with personal care tasks if required, always ensuring dignity and respect.
- Collaborate with other teaching assistants, teachers, and professionals involved in the education and care of the student.
- Continuously develop your knowledge and understanding of ASD/SEND best practices through professional development opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Relevant NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or a related field.
- Experience working with children with ASD/SEND, particularly in a 1:1 capacity.
- Strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with ASD/SEND and an empathetic approach to addressing these challenges.
- Excellent communication and collaborative skills, with the ability to work effectively with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
- Patient, resilient, and adaptable, with a commitment to creating an inclusive educational environment.
- A valid Enhanced DBS check, or willingness to undergo one.
