Teaching Assistant – SEMH Provision (Bolton)
Are you a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant looking to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people? We are currently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) provision in Bolton for the academic year 2025/2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting students with additional needs and helping them achieve both academically and emotionally within a nurturing environment.
About the Role
As a Teaching Assistant within this SEMH provision, you will work closely with class teachers and support staff to deliver tailored interventions and provide consistent support to pupils who may display challenging behaviours or require emotional regulation.
Your role will include:
• Supporting the learning and development of pupils with SEMH needs
• Assisting the class teacher with lesson delivery and individualised learning plans
• Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
• Building trusting relationships to help students feel safe and motivated to learn
• Supporting the wider pastoral and wellbeing framework of the school
This role is ideal for individuals who have experience working in SEMH, PRU, or alternative education settings, or those with a background in youth work, psychology, or social care.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should have:
• Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs (desirable but not essential)
• Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, resilient attitude
• The ability to build positive relationships and work effectively as part of a team
• A genuine passion for supporting young people’s education and emotional development
• Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant certificate, psychology degree, or equivalent (desirable)
An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one) is required.
