Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Pay: £92.63 – £100 per day PAYE
Axcis Education is recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to join a specialist ASC resource base within a mainstream secondary school in Yeovil. This full-time Teaching Assistant role involves supporting students aged 11–16 with Autism Spectrum Condition, helping them access learning and build confidence.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work within a dedicated specialist provision that offers a structured, inclusive and supportive environment. The resource base provides tailored support for students who benefit from personalised learning approaches and guidance to help them thrive both academically and socially while remaining part of the wider school community.

Responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant:
• Providing one-to-one and small-group support for students aged 11–16 within the specialist resource base and mainstream lessons
• Supporting students with Autism Spectrum Condition and associated communication, sensory and learning needs
• Helping students access the curriculum by adapting support to meet individual learning styles and needs
• Encouraging independence, confidence and active participation in lessons and school life
• Supporting emotional wellbeing, positive behaviour and self-regulation using consistent strategies
• Promoting communication, social interaction and life skills to help students achieve greater independence
• Working closely with teachers, SEND professionals and families to deliver personalised support plans
• Building positive, trusting relationships that help students feel safe, understood and motivated to learn
• Helping to maintain a calm, structured and nurturing learning environment where every student can succeed
The Ideal Teaching Assistant Will:
• Have personal or professional experience supporting children or young people with Autism Spectrum Condition, SEND or additional learning needs, whether as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Support Worker, Care Worker, Youth Worker or through supporting a family member or individual with additional needs
• Be confident supporting students with communication differences, sensory needs and varying learning profiles
• Have a genuine interest in autism education, inclusive practice and helping students develop independence
• Be committed to supporting both the academic progress and personal development of every student
• Work effectively as part of a collaborative and supportive school team
