Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Pay: £92.63 – £100 per day PAYE
Axcis Education is seeking a Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEMH school in Salisbury. This full-time Teaching Assistant opportunity involves supporting children and young people who require additional help with their social, emotional and mental health, enabling them to engage positively with education and reach their full potential.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work in a nurturing learning environment that delivers a highly personalised approach to education. The school supports pupils who benefit from smaller class sizes, structured routines and therapeutic approaches, helping them develop confidence, resilience and the skills needed to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.

Responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant:
• Providing one-to-one and small-group support for pupils across a range of key stages
• Supporting children and young people with SEMH needs, autism, ADHD and additional learning needs
• Helping pupils access lessons by adapting support to meet individual learning styles
• Encouraging positive behaviour through consistency, patience and restorative approaches
• Supporting emotional wellbeing, self-regulation and the development of positive coping strategies
• Promoting independence, communication skills, confidence and social development throughout the school day
• Working collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff and external professionals to provide tailored support for each pupil
• Building positive, trusting relationships that help pupils feel safe, valued and ready to learn
• Contributing to a calm, structured and supportive learning environment where every pupil can thrive
The Ideal Teaching Assistant Will:
• Have personal or professional experience supporting children and young people with SEMH, autism, ADHD or other additional needs, whether as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Support Worker, Care Worker, Youth Worker, or through personal experience supporting a family member or individual with additional needs
• Feel confident supporting pupils who may present behaviours that challenge and be committed to using positive behaviour strategies
• Have a genuine interest in SEMH education, trauma-informed practice and inclusive learning environments
• Be committed to supporting both the academic progress and personal development of pupils
• Work effectively as part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team
