Teaching Assistant
SEND School, Leeds
Pay: £90–£95 per day
Hours: Full-time
Axcis Education is looking for a passionate and reliable Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming SEND school in Leeds. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children and young people with special educational needs, particularly those with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
What We’re Looking For:
• Experience working with children or young people in education, care, or a similar setting (essential)
• Experience supporting learners with SEND, especially SEMH (essential)
• A child-enhanced DBS on the Update Service—or willingness to apply through Axcis
• A genuine commitment to supporting young people’s learning, wellbeing, and development
• A flexible, proactive, and positive approach to teamwork
Your Role Will Involve:
• Supporting teachers with lessons and classroom activities
• Providing additional support for pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups
• Helping to maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
• Encouraging positive behaviour and supporting pupils’ emotional needs
• Promoting social, emotional, and mental wellbeing for all learners
• Working closely with teachers, support staff, and other professionals
Experience Desired:
• Previous experience working with SEND (professional or personal)
• Understanding of SEMH strategies and approaches
• Experience across different age groups is beneficial
