Description
Axcis is a specialist education agency dedicated to supporting children and young people with special educational needs nationwide. We are currently seeking a caring and enthusiastic teaching assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a Year 4 boy with autism at a welcoming mainstream primary school in the BB2 area.
The school is known for its inclusive ethos and supportive staff, with excellent feedback from previous placements. With great transport links and ample on-site parking, this is a fantastic opportunity for someone who can provide consistency, compassion, and patience in their role.
The Role:
You will be working closely with a Year 4 pupil who has autism, supporting him both inside the classroom and during regulation breaks, in line with his care plan. Your role will involve:
• Helping him access classroom learning by breaking down tasks and offering tailored support.
• Recognising when he may need a movement or regulation break and providing appropriate strategies.
• Working collaboratively with the class teacher and SENCO to ensure his academic and emotional needs are met.
• Assisting with general classroom support when the pupil is settled and engaged in activities.
What We’re Looking For:
• A minimum of 6 months’ experience supporting children with autism.
• A calm, patient, and consistent approach to behaviour management.
• Flexibility to work school hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm.
• The ability to commute reliably to the BB2 area.
If you are a compassionate teaching assistant who is passionate about making a positive difference to a child’s school experience, we would love to hear from you!
