Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Location: Yeovil, Somerset
Job Type: Full-time
Hours: 8:30 AM – 4:15 PM
Salary: £13.69 - £14 per hour

This role is pivotal in providing comprehensive support to students who have social, emotional, and mental health needs. Responsibilities:
- Work closely with students who require additional support due to SEMH, adapting to their individual needs and providing tailored assistance.
- Collaborate with the classroom teacher to implement well-structured learning activities and behavioural management plans.
- Assist in developing and maintaining a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that enables students to thrive academically and socially.
- Provide one-to-one and small group support, reinforcing positive learning and behaviour strategies.
- Monitor and record the progress of students, communicating effectively with teachers, parents, and other professionals as required.
- Encourage student participation in all aspects of school life and facilitate their social integration.
- Manage challenging behaviour constructively, using established school policies and techniques.
- Participate in meetings and training sessions to enhance your understanding of SEMH and remain up-to-date with current educational practices.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role working with children and young people, preferably in an SEMH setting.
- Strong understanding of the needs of students with SEMH and the ability to form trusting relationships.
- Patience, resilience, and a positive, can-do attitude towards helping students overcome their challenges.
- Enhanced DBS check or willingness to obtain one.
