**Job Title: British Sign Language (BSL) Teaching Assistant**

**Location**: Anywhere

**Salary**: £100 per day

**Duration**: 2-year role with training opportunities

**Working Hours**: Full-time

Axcis Education is currently seeking a compassionate and motivated British Sign Language (BSL) Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team. This position is perfect for someone who is passionate about supporting the deaf community and has a desire to develop their skills further within educational settings. We offer a unique opportunity for the right candidate to be trained to become a qualified Teacher of the Deaf.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Provide 1:1 support to a young lady with a hearing impairment, assisting with her educational and personal development.
- Use BSL to effectively communicate and engage with the student, ensuring clear understanding and inclusion in all activities.
- Work closely with the student to create a comfortable and supportive learning environment that addresses her anxiety and supports her emotional well-being.
- Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to facilitate access to the curriculum and adapt resources as needed.
- Monitor and track the student's progress, providing feedback and suggesting strategies to promote continuous improvement.
- Be an advocate for the student's needs within the school environment.

**Requirements**:

- Hold a British Sign Language qualification at any level.
- Registered with the DBS Update Service.
- Previous experience supporting individuals with hearing impairments is highly preferred.
- Strong signing skills and an ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
- Exhibits a patient, understanding, and empathetic demeanor, particularly in relation to anxiety and other emotional challenges.
- Possess a good sense of humour and an ability to build rapport and trust with students.
- Committed to ongoing professional development and training.
