Job Title: Teaching Assistant – Secondary School
Location: Taunton
Pay Rate: £92.00 – £109.00 per day
Job Type: Full-time – Term Time Only (Temporary or Long-term)
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
Are you passionate about supporting young people to succeed? We are seeking a committed and adaptable Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Taunton from September, supporting students across Key Stages 3 and 4.
This is a rewarding role within a well-established school that values inclusion, high standards, and strong pastoral support. You will work with students who may need extra help with learning, confidence, behaviour, or additional needs.
About the Role:
You will provide both 1:1 support and small group interventions, helping students to engage positively in lessons and make progress academically and personally. Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff, you will help remove barriers to learning and encourage confidence, independence, and resilience.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support students 1:1 and in small groups
• Assist with learning, engagement, and classroom behaviour
• Help students stay organised, focused, and on task
• Work alongside teachers, SEND staff, and pastoral teams
• Build positive relationships and act as a trusted adult
• Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and inclusion at all times
Who We’re Looking For:
• A patient, enthusiastic, and reliable individual
• Experience working with children or young people (school, care, coaching, youth work or similar)
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to build rapport with secondary-aged students
• A genuine passion for helping young people succeed
