Technical Manager – Fire & Water Restoration
Location: Watford HQ | London & South East
Salary: £42,000 – £48,000 depending on experience + Bonus + Company Vehicle

The Opportunity
We are working with a growing specialist business operating within the property damage restoration and insurance claims sector, supporting insurers, loss adjusters and private clients across London and the South East.
They are now looking for an experienced Technical Manager to lead and develop their technical function, raising standards across the field operation while helping the business grow.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone with a strong background in fire and water damage restoration, insurance repairs or property claims who understands both the technical and commercial side of the industry.
You will be responsible for leading field managers and senior technicians, developing technical capability, maintaining high standards and ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently and to the standards expected by insurers, loss adjusters and high-value clients.
What You’ll Be Doing
Lead, coach and develop Field Technical Managers and senior technicians
Set and maintain high technical standards across all restoration work
Oversee fire and water damage restoration projects and insurance claims
Design and deliver structured training, including induction, refresher and technical upskilling
Plan and allocate resources across multiple teams and live jobs
Take responsibility for health & safety, RAMS, site inspections and toolbox talks
Ensure field operations remain compliant with relevant regulatory and industry requirements
Act as a senior technical contact for insurers and loss adjusters
Support the team with complex or high-risk technical decisions
Consider job profitability, cost control and resource requirements when making technical decisions
Identify improvements to processes, tools, reporting and scheduling
Work closely with Directors on capacity, new capabilities and business growth
Monitor team performance, quality and productivity
What We’re Looking For
You must have substantial experience within disaster restoration, insurance repairs or property damage claims, with specific experience across fire and water damage restoration.
We are particularly interested in candidates who have progressed into a senior technical, supervisory or management position and have experience leading field-based teams.
You'll ideally have:
Proven experience in fire and water damage restoration
Strong knowledge of property damage insurance claims
Experience working with insurers and/or loss adjusters
Previous experience leading or supervising field technicians
Strong technical judgement across complex restoration projects
Experience with health & safety, RAMS and site compliance
Good understanding of job costs, profitability and resource planning
The ability to train, coach and develop technical teams
Strong communication skills with the confidence to deal with Directors, insurers and other senior stakeholders
A practical, hands-on approach to improving processes and standards
Full UK driving licence
Must be based within approximately one hour of Watford
Qualifications
The following would be advantageous but are not essential:
BDMA
IICRC – WRT / ASD / FSRT
CSCS
IOSH
