Vocational Instructor – Carpentry
Location: Sutton
Contract: Full-time, Temp to Perm
Hours: 8:45am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
On behalf of our client, a PRU (Pupil Referral Unit) in Sutton, Axcis Education is seeking a dedicated Vocational Instructor specialising in Carpentry for a full-time, temp-to-perm position.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and motivated instructor to deliver engaging, hands-on vocational learning to students who thrive in practical environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging carpentry sessions that meet City and Guilds standards and support students in developing practical trade skills.
Assessment and Progress: Monitor, assess, and record learner progress, providing constructive feedback to promote achievement and confidence.
Workshop Management: Maintain a safe and organised learning environment, ensuring tools, materials, and equipment are used safely and appropriately.
Learner Support: Build positive relationships with students, promoting good attendance, behaviour, and engagement in learning.
Health & Safety: Ensure all activities comply with health and safety regulations and best practice.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues and support staff to ensure a consistent and high-quality learning experience.
Requirements:
Relevant vocational qualification in Carpentry or Construction (City & Guilds or equivalent).
Previous experience teaching or training young people in a vocational setting (school, college, or training provider).
Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
A commitment to supporting students with additional needs or those disengaged from mainstream education.
