Description
Are you passionate about helping young people overcome barriers and achieve their potential? We are looking for a Youth Mental Health Support Worker to join a welcoming further education college in Radstock. This role is ideal for anyone interested in working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Youth Worker, Sports Coach or Support Worker, and offers the chance to make a genuine difference every day.
You will be supporting students aged 16+ who have autism, learning disabilities and social, emotional and mental health needs. Much of your time will be spent in the college’s specialist provision, designed to give young people the skills, confidence and independence they need for adulthood. You’ll also support learners in the wider college across practical areas such as construction, mechanics and animal care – giving variety and the opportunity to connect with students in different settings.
The most recent Ofsted inspection praised the college’s inclusive learning environment, strong community values and its focus on preparing students for positive futures. As part of the team, you will play an important role in continuing this work by building trusted relationships and encouraging young people to grow in confidence and resilience.
No prior experience is required – we are looking for people with the right personality and values. If you are patient, reliable and enthusiastic about supporting others, we would love to hear from you. Many of our successful staff have previously worked in youth work, sports coaching, social care or as graduates looking to begin a career in education.
This position is full-time or 4 days per week, starting as soon as possible. Hours are 8:30am–3:30pm or 8:30am–4:30pm. Pay is £13.70 per hour, with the opportunity to become permanent after an initial 16-week settling-in period.
If you are ready to take on a role that is purposeful, rewarding and rooted in your local community, this could be the perfect step.
