Configuration Manager
Job Summary:
The Configuration Manager will ensure all configuration management (CM) activities align with NATO standards and objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CM planning, tools, and processes, with proven experience in Agile environments. This role involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to maintain configuration baselines, manage change control, and support project delivery. Candidates must be detail-oriented and proactive.
The position is expected to be onsite at the Customer Site.
Responsibilities:
• Develop, deliver, and maintain a detailed Configuration Management (CM) Plan tailored to project needs and aligned with NATO standards and objectives.
• Identify, document, and maintain configuration items (CIs), their attributes, and initial baselines in the CM database.
• Establish and manage CM processes, including configuration control, change management, versioning, and quality assurance.
• Set up and maintain CM tools, software, templates, and documentation systems.
• Coordinate and prepare for Configuration Control Board (CCB) meetings, including agenda development and change evaluation.
• Provide training and guidance on CM processes and tools to team members; ensure all participants understand their roles within the CM framework.
• Proactively identify and mitigate configuration-related risks; document and escalate issues to stakeholders as necessary.
• Ensure CM activities are integrated into the overall project workflow, especially within Agile development environments.
• Collaborate closely with project managers, developers, and cross-functional teams to align CM activities with iterative delivery cycles and Agile practices.
• Maintain compliance with NATO standards and documentation requirements.
• Ensure comprehensive and traceable documentation of all CM decisions and processes from project inception.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• 7–10 years of relevant experience (or 5–8 years with a Master’s degree).
• Experience working in or with Agile environments, with a solid understanding of how CM integrates with Agile project lifecycles.
• Certifications such as Certified Configuration and Data Manager (CCDM), CM2, or similar credentials.
• Familiarity with CM tools and platforms such as IBM Rational ClearCase, CA Endevor, Ansible, Puppet, or equivalent.
• Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and best practices in change management.
• Proficient in using and managing CM repositories and databases.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to engage with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
• High attention to detail and organizational skills to maintain accurate configuration records.
• Ability to lead or work within cross-functional teams in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
• Must possess and maintain a NATO Secret security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working on NATO projects.
• Familiarity with NATO standards, documentation policies, and security requirements.
• Experience working in multinational environments with sensitivity to cultural diversity.
• Prior experience delivering training or mentoring in CM best practices.
