Assistant Leisure Club Manager – Hotel Health Club & Spa
Location: Greater Manchester
Salary: Competitive / DOE – Salary to be confirmed
Hours: Full Time – 40 hours per week
Contract: Permanent

The Opportunity
We are recruiting for an experienced and enthusiastic Assistant Leisure Club Manager to join a premium hotel leisure and spa operation in the Greater Manchester area.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys a hands-on management role and wants to play a key part in the day-to-day running of a large, high-quality health club and spa.

Working closely with the Leisure Club Manager, you will help oversee the smooth, safe and commercially successful operation of the facilities, whilst ensuring members, hotel guests and spa visitors receive an exceptional experience.

The leisure operation includes an extensive gym, swimming pool, thermal suite and eight treatment rooms, providing a varied and high-quality health, fitness and wellbeing offering.

Key Responsibilities
As Assistant Leisure Club Manager, you will:
• Support the Leisure Club Manager with the day-to-day operation and management of the health club and spa.
• Act as a key member of the management team, taking responsibility for the operation when the Leisure Club Manager is unavailable.
• Lead, motivate and support the leisure team, ensuring high standards of service and professionalism are maintained.
• Help manage rotas, staffing levels, training, performance and team development.
• Ensure the gym, swimming pool, thermal suite, changing facilities and spa areas are consistently clean, safe and presented to a high standard.
• Oversee daily operational and health & safety checks across the leisure facilities.
• Ensure appropriate pool safety, water testing and plant procedures are followed.
• Support compliance with company policies, risk assessments, COSHH, fire safety and other relevant health & safety requirements.
• Deal confidently and professionally with member and guest queries, feedback and complaints.
• Build strong relationships with members and regular guests, creating a welcoming and professional environment.
• Work closely with the spa team to ensure a seamless experience between the health club, thermal facilities and treatment areas.
• Support the management of spa treatment bookings, membership enquiries and other leisure-related administration.
• Assist with membership sales, retention initiatives, promotions and other opportunities to grow leisure and spa revenue.
• Monitor equipment, facilities and maintenance requirements, escalating issues and ensuring appropriate action is taken.
• Support the delivery of member engagement activities, promotions and wellbeing initiatives.
• Assist with recruitment, onboarding and training of new team members.
• Maintain accurate operational records and ensure all required checks and documentation are completed.
• Work closely with other hotel departments to deliver a consistently high standard of guest experience.
• Lead by example and be prepared to be hands-on and visible across the operation.

About You
We are looking for someone who is confident, organised and passionate about delivering an outstanding leisure and wellbeing experience.
You will ideally have:
• Previous supervisory or management experience within a health club, leisure club, spa, hotel or similar environment.
• Strong experience of working within a customer-focused leisure or hospitality operation.
• Experience leading and motivating a team.
• A good understanding of health & safety within a leisure environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• The confidence to deal with members, hotel guests and colleagues at all levels.
• A proactive approach with excellent attention to detail.
• The ability to remain calm and make confident decisions in a busy operational environment.
• A genuine interest in health, fitness, wellness and hospitality.
• Good commercial awareness and an understanding of membership and secondary revenue opportunities.
• The flexibility to work across a 7-day operation, including weekends and some early or late shifts.

Desirable Qualifications
The following would be advantageous, although training may be available for the right candidate:
• Pool Plant Operator qualification
• Pool Responder / Lifeguard qualification
• First Aid qualification
• Fitness Instructor / Personal Training qualification
• Relevant leisure, spa or hospitality management qualification
