Teaching Assistant – Primary School SEND Support | Chorley | Full-Time | September Start | Temporary (Potential Temp-to-Perm)
Are you passionate about making a real difference to children's lives? We are recruiting for a dedicated and caring Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive mainstream primary school in Chorley from September.
This rewarding role involves providing 1:1 and small-group support for two pupils with Autism and behaviour needs. Working closely alongside the class teacher and SEND team, you will play a vital role in helping the children access the curriculum, develop positive learning behaviours, and reach their full potential.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will:
• Support two pupils with ASC and behaviour needs within a mainstream primary classroom.
• Work collaboratively with the class teacher to adapt learning and encourage classroom participation.
• Deliver targeted interventions to close learning gaps and help pupils achieve age-related expectations.
• Build positive, trusting relationships that promote emotional wellbeing and confidence.
• Use positive behaviour support strategies to encourage engagement and independence.
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff on pupil development.
The school prides itself on its supportive leadership team, welcoming atmosphere, and strong commitment to inclusive education. This is a temporary position starting in September, with the potential to become permanent depending on future funding.
You do not need to have class-based experience or Teaching Assistant qualifications, although these are desirable.
To be considered for this role, you must have:
• At least 6 months' experience working with SEND.
• Overseas applicants must have a minimum of 3 months' UK-based SEND experience.
• A genuine passion for supporting children with SEND and complex needs.
• Availability to work Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm.
• The ability to reliably commute to Chorley and the surrounding areas.
• An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one (Axcis Education can support you with the application process).
