Our client creates technically sound, commercially viable, and easy to deliver AV Solutions. As an AV Pre Sales Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping solutions before they are sold. Working closely with Business Development, Design, and Engineering teams, you will translate customer needs into clear, cost effective, and deliverable AV systems.
You will support complex bids and opportunities, provide technical expertise throughout the pre sales lifecycle, and help ensure a smooth transition from sale to delivery. This role is hands on and ideal for someone who enjoys combining technical depth with commercial awareness and customer engagement.
The Role
As an AV Pre Sales Engineer, you will:
• Act as the technical expert within the sales process
• Design and specify AV solutions that balance quality, cost, and deliverability
• Support bids, tenders, and high-value opportunities
• Bridge the gap between Business Development, Design, and Engineering
• Ensure what is proposed is technically robust, clearly defined, and ready to be delivered right the first time
Role Responsibilities
• Collaborate with Commercial and Design teams to specify innovative, cost effective AV solutions that meet customer requirements.
• Conduct site surveys and accurately capture technical, environmental, and operational details.
• Produce clear and detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs) and scopes of work for AV projects.
• Prepare, maintain, and update technical quotations, particularly for longer lead or more complex opportunities.
• Review internal and third party construction and technical drawings, coordinating AV requirements and constraints.
• Support responses to external tenders, RFQs, and bids by contributing technical detail and insight.
• Use CRM systems to manage quotations, opportunities, and customer records accurately.
• Provide pre sales technical support, including system configuration, equipment recommendations, and demonstrations.
• Act as a technical advisor throughout the pre sales cycle to support customer confidence and informed decision making.
• Lead or support technical handover meetings with Engineering once projects are awarded.
• Work with Engineering teams to ensure proposed solutions are feasible, scalable, and aligned with delivery capability.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide insight on customer needs, product performance, and opportunities for improvement.
• Stay up to date with AV technologies, industry trends, and supplier offerings, applying new knowledge to future solutions.
Essential Requirements
• Experience in AV pre sales, design, engineering, or technical sales.
• Strong technical understanding of AV systems, including video and audio distribution, signal processing, DSPs, and display technologies.
• Confidence in producing BOMs, pricing, and technical documentation to support commercial activity.
• Commercial awareness with the ability to balance technical quality, cost, and deliverability.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non technical audiences, contractors, and end clients.
• A collaborative mindset and comfort working across Business Development, Design, Engineering, and Operations.
• Strong organisation skills and attention to detail, especially in documentation and quotations.
• Experience using design tools such as AutoCAD or Visio.
• A proactive, problem solving approach suited to fast moving environments.
• AVIXA CTS certification (or willingness to work towards it).
• Full UK driving licence.
