We are searching for a Senior Audio Visual Technician to lead the day-to-day delivery of AV services and ensure high-quality event production and technical operations. The role involves assigning and supervising daily tasks for AV technicians, setting up and operating AV, lighting, digital displays, IPTV, staging, and production systems, and maintaining secure control of AV assets and stock.
Working closely with the TV team, the Senior AV Technician supports filming and live streaming, oversees third-party contractors, and acts as a key point of contact for AV event planning. The role also supports AV bookings, staffing coordination, meetings, and accurate invoicing to ensure smooth service delivery.

Beyond technical delivery, the Senior AV Technician maintains high service standards, monitors performance, and drives continuous improvement. This includes training technicians, ensuring health and safety compliance, supporting recruitment and onboarding, and maintaining technical documentation. As a Fire Marshal and First Aider, the role contributes to a safe and professional working environment.

The position sits within the AV Team in the Operations Team, which delivers high-quality, cost-effective AV services across all venues, customers, and regions, working closely with Portfolio & Product Management and Engagement & Growth teams.

Main duties and responsibilities
•	Oversee and action daily AV operations at our client’s venue, ensuring the setup and operation of all AV, lighting, digital display screens, IPTV, stage, and production services meet agreed standards.
•	Oversee and build semi-permanent structures for branding and set when required (BeMatrix frame)
•	Oversee the performance, punctuality, and service quality of the AV technicians while serving as the on-the-floor team lead.
•	Manage stock control, asset management, security, and maintenance of all AV equipment, including pool equipment, ensuring resources are effectively utilised.
•	Work closely with the TV team on filming, streaming, and interviews for internal and external clients, ensuring seamless AV support.
•	Supervise third-party contractors, introduce them to operational spaces, and provide necessary event documentation, such as running orders and content.
•	Manage external AV hires, staffing allocations, rota updates, and third-party contractor bookings, and inform the AV Manager of all hires and bookings.
•	Act as the primary AV event-planning contact for clients and agents in the absence of the AV Solutions Manager or AV Manager, ensuring clear communication and coordination.
•	Ensure accurate recording and invoicing of additional AV equipment charges via the sales team.
•	Deliver outstanding customer service, collaborating with the AV Manager, AV Solutions Manager, and Head of Venues and Facilities to resolve issues promptly.
•	Monitor service delivery and operational standards, implementing improvements to optimise quality and efficiency.
•	Support business continuity by training AV teams and third-party contractors on handling technical failures, including projector, LCD, lighting, and cabling issues.

•	Supervise external AV and stage build third-party contractors, ensuring they adhere to safety protocols.
•	Oversee the performance of the team and third-party AV technicians, ensuring high service levels throughout events and reporting any issues as necessary.
•	Keep abreast of industry practices and encourage professional development through CTS courses and other training opportunities.
•	Assist with recruitment, training, and health and safety inductions for new internal and third-party AV technicians, ensuring compliance with procedures.
•	Maintain and update essential AV documentation, including sales packs, user guides, and training manuals, to support operational efficiency.

•	Manage and safeguard the lecture theatre banner system, ensuring proper access and maintenance.

•	Ensure internal and third-party AV technicians comply with health and safety legislation, attend relevant meetings, adhere to risk assessments, and maintain a secure and professional environment, including clean and organised AV control rooms. Ensure all AV personnel, including the post-holder, wear the appropriate PPE provided as detailed in the completed risk assessment. Scaffold training and assembly
•	Serve as a Fire Marshal and First Aider after one year, with a paid supplement for these responsibilities.

Our client is seeking an AV Engineer to support their team of expert installation and service engineers. You will be responsible for ensuring adherence to high standards of engineering work.  This is a field-based role, primarily covering Chester, Manchester, and the wider North West, with regular national travel as required by projects. To support you, a company van is provided, fully equipped to help you hit the ground running. 

You will work with the Engineering Management team, Chief Engineer and Project Managers to ensure all projects are delivered to the highest technical standards, on time and within budget. 

Job Requirements

•	Extensive experience in the Audio-Visual industry, with a strong background in AV systems design, integration, and engineering leadership.
•	Proven track record of managing installation teams, working hands on from 1st fix to commissioning.
•	Deep understanding of AV technologies including Video distribution, Networking, control systems (e.g., Crestron, Extron), audio processing, projection, and display systems.

•	Building customer quotes using kit lists, schedules and coordinating equipment availability.
•	Supporting the accounts department with invoicing, customer purchase orders and any ad hoc account queries.
•	Liaising with internal departments on support requests, repairs and logistics.
•	Booking and holding interdepartmental meetings.
•	Raising and processing outbound purchase orders for the production office team.
•	Researching and updating customer databases and the asset management platform.

DRIVING LICENSE AND OWN TRANSPORT IS ESSENTIAL

Working Conditions
•	42.5 hours per week, working shifts within our main hours of business of 8am to 6pm - with flexibility to work outside of these hours if required
•	Monday to Friday
•	Holiday - 20 days per year plus UK bank holidays
