Job Title: Behaviour Mentor
Location: Secondary School – Trafford / Altrincham
Contract: Full-time (preferred)
Start Date: September

Are you passionate about supporting young people and helping them reach their full potential?

We’re looking for a calm, confident and compassionate professional to join a welcoming mainstream secondary school in the Trafford/Altrincham area as a behaviour mentor. This is a rewarding full-time position ideal for someone with a background in supporting children or young people (whether in a school, youth work, care or SEND setting).

About the Role:
As a Behaviour Mentor, you’ll be working closely with students who may need extra support to stay on track (emotionally, socially or academically). This could include helping them regulate their behaviour, manage their emotions or rebuild confidence in the classroom. You’ll be someone they can trust and rely on throughout the school day.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

- Providing 1:1 or small group support for students with additional needs

- Helping manage challenging behaviours calmly and consistently

- Working alongside teaching staff to maintain a positive learning environment

- Supporting students with classroom tasks, routines and social development

- Monitoring progress and feeding back to pastoral staff and SEN team

- Helping implement behaviour or support plans tailored to individual students

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

- Experience working with children or young people (school, youth work, care or similar)

- A calm and confident approach, especially in challenging situations

- Knowledge of complex needs such as SEMH, ADHD, Autism or Trauma (desirable but not essential)

- A positive attitude and genuine passion for helping young people thrive

- Willingness to support with general classroom duties when needed

- A current DBS or willingness to apply for one

This is a great opportunity to join a supportive school environment where your work will make a real difference to students’ lives; helping them feel heard, supported and ready to learn.
