Job Title: Classroom Assistant - Special Needs
Location: Rochdale, Lancashire
Job Description:
We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Classroom Assistant to join our team in Rochdale, Lancashire. In this role, you will be instrumental in supporting the learning and welfare of students with a range of special educational needs (SEN). The ideal candidate will have a genuine desire to make a positive impact on young people's lives and contribute to an inclusive educational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement educational plans tailored to individual student needs.
- Provide one-to-one support and small group assistance to students with SEN, ensuring access to the curriculum.
- Assist with the preparation of learning materials and modification of the classroom environment to suit the needs of all learners.
- Utilize excellent behavior management strategies to maintain a constructive learning atmosphere.
- Facilitate effective communication between students, staff, and parents.
- Monitor and document student progress, sharing observations with teachers to inform future planning.
- Attend to the personal care needs of students as required, respecting their dignity and privacy.
- Foster a healthy and safe environment, adhering to school policies and procedures.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Previous experience working with young people with special needs.
- Proven behavior management skills.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to encourage students of varying abilities.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- A proactive and adaptable approach to work.
Additional Requirements:
- Must hold an enhanced DBS on the update service.
- Available to work full-time from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.
