Classroom Support Assistant

Bath, Somerset

We are working with a special educational needs school located in the heart of Bath, Somerset. The school caters to pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural challenges, providing them with tailored support and education to meet their unique needs. They pride ourselves on creating a nurturing and inclusive environment, where their pupils can thrive and achieve their full potential.

This school have a very supportive Senior Leadership Team (SLT) that values the contribution of all staff members. The schools great location features excellent public transport links, making it easily accessible, and they also offer on-site car parking facilities.

This school is working with Axcis Education, they are seeking dedicated Classroom Support Assistants to join their dynamic team. The roles are available on both part-time and full-time bases. This great school are looking for individuals who are not intimidated by challenges and who can provide empathetic support to their pupils.

Key Responsibilities of a Classroom Support

- Assist in the preparation and delivery of daily activities that support the educational and behavioural plans set out for individual students or the class.
- Provide additional support to students with their learning, under the direction of the class teacher.
- Monitor and support pupil behaviour in the classroom and other school environments.
- Work closely with the SLT, teachers, and other support staff to implement strategies for managing challenging behaviours.
- Encourage pupils’ engagement in their learning and school activities.
- Offer emotional support to pupils and help to develop their social skills.
- Maintain a safe and positive learning environment for all pupils.
- Support the organization and management of the classroom resources and space.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to the planning of activities and strategies.
- Carry out administrative duties as required.

Essential Qualities of a Classroom Support

- A proactive attitude and the ability to use your initiative.
- A genuine commitment to supporting pupils with behavioural challenges.
- Patience, resilience, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Previous experience working with children, preferably in an educational or special needs setting, though this is not essential as training will be provided.
