Our client is a progressive and impactful local charity and social enterprise dedicated to empowering individuals who face barriers to employment. They are seeking a Commercial Business Manager to drive the delivery of their employment programme and oversee the development of their unique, accessibly designed training retail store.
This role sits within the management team and focuses on balancing retail operations with a meaningful social mission.
Key Responsibilities
• Commercial Growth: Identify and negotiate wholesale, consignment, and partnership opportunities with local retailers, corporate partners, and venues.
• Retail Operations: Support the volunteer team with daily merchandising, stock control, and pricing strategies to maximize conversion and transaction value.
• Product & Brand Promotion: Plan and implement in-store, pop-up, and event displays while representing the organization at community markets and trade events.
• Sales Tracking: Monitor weekly sales, margins, and stock performance to produce concise reports and actionable pricing recommendations.
• People Support: Work closely with the Training Coordinator to coach, mentor, and support individuals on placement.
Experience & Attributes
• Minimum of two years of retail experience with clear merchandising or product placement skills.
• Strong commercial awareness and experience building local partnerships or sales channels.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to represent the organization externally.
• Well-organized with the ability to manage flexible hours effectively.
• An empathetic, supportive approach toward co-workers and training placement candidates.
• Experience in social enterprise, charity retail, or working with people with disabilities is an advantage.
• Familiarity with EPOS systems and knowledge of the Guernsey retail landscape is preferred.
