About the Role:
As a Complex Needs TA, you will work closely with class teachers and specialist staff to support pupils with a range of additional and complex needs, including ASD, ADHD, physical disabilities, communication difficulties, and medical needs. Your role will be vital in helping these pupils access the curriculum, develop life skills, and achieve their full potential in a safe and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual needs
• Support learning through adapted resources and communication strategies (e.g., PECS, Makaton)
• Assist with personal care, mobility, and medical needs, following individual care plans
• Help manage behaviour positively and in line with school policy
• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and parents to ensure a consistent approach
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
• Has experience working with children or young people with complex or additional needs (in education, care, or health settings)
• Is patient, empathetic, and flexible
• Can work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Is calm under pressure and able to manage challenging behaviour
• Has a good understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality
[Ideally holds an NVQ Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent – optional]
