Job title: Operations Manager

Responsible for

Operational delivery across fire door and fire stopping projects, subcontractor and supplier control and day to day running of the operations function. Day to day operational performance across fire door installation and remedial projects and fire stopping installations, including WIP, KPIs, quality, audits and escalations.

Role purpose

• Lead and manage the operational side of the business to ensure safe, compliant and profitable delivery of all projects.
• Oversee subcontractor labour, supplier relationships, fleet, plant and operational cashflow so projects are effectively resourced, sequenced and delivered.
• Provide leadership and second line escalation for Project Managers to drive productivity, quality, compliance and financial performance.
• Ensure operational risks are identified early and robustly mitigated across all active projects.
Key responsibilities
• Oversee site manufacturing surveys and support technical decision making for operational delivery.
• Control subcontractor labour resources and deployment across projects.
• Provide technical advice on sundry building works, doors and firestopping projects to internal teams and site management.
• Lead the operational management of the business, including resolving site based issues and escalations.
• Oversee purchasing of plant and machinery and ordering of specialist building materials.
• Work closely with the Project Managers to ensure WIP, productivity, KPIs and compliance requirements are met, including reviewing the project tracker and updating the work bank daily.
• Manage and report on WIP and lead regular Project Managers’ meetings and operational reporting to senior management.
• Monitor project progress, productivity and KPIs across all site activities.
• Oversee quality audits, inspections and sign off procedures, including random documentation and evidence trail audits for compliance and certification.
• Act as a 2nd line escalation point for Project Managers and identify risks, gaps and mitigation strategies across operations.

Essential knowledge, skills and experience

• Extensive operational management experience in fire protection, construction or building services, including subcontractor and supplier management.
• Strong understanding of fire doors, firestopping and related building works, with the ability to provide practical technical advice.
• Leadership skills to direct Project Managers, coordinators and site teams to resolve complex site issues quickly.

Desirable requirements

• Experience with digital project tracking and audit tools.
• Background in fire door or passive fire protection projects.
• Experience in fleet and plant management for multi site operations.
• Familiarity with project tracking, WIP reporting and operational KPIs in a construction/compliance environment.
• Experience contributing to broader business strategy and risk management.
