Cover Teachers required for September 2025!
A fantastic all-age ASD-specific SEND school in the Solihull area is looking for cover teachers for the 2025/26 academic year. The schools has an extremely strong community spirit, they are fully dedicated to supporting complex children and young people aged 4 to 16 years with a lead diagnosis of Autism as well as additional needs such as distressing behaviour that challenges, non/pre-verbal communication and sensory dysregulation and challenges.
The school is looking for cover teachers who are available to work flexibly, some weeks you may be required for 1 day, other weeks 5 days, all depending on the level of absence/illness that needs to be covered. Being able to work with teachers who have this level of flexibility will ensure the school can have more consistency and quality of education and the children and young people aren’t faced with as much change, ensuring they can better access their education.
The school is happy to welcome qualified teachers, unqualified teachers (relatable level 4 or 5 qualifications accepted), early career teachers (ECT) and/or cover supervisors, experience of teaching within Resource Hubs or SEND schools is essential. These teaching roles do not include planning and assessment, more so you will be responsible for delivering the pre-planned lesson according to the lesson plan left by the usual class teacher.
Requirements:
• Unqualified Teacher (Level 4 or Level 5 support/teaching qualification) OR Early Career Teacher (completed BEd or PGCE) OR Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) OR Cover Supervisor (Degree level education required) – Essential
• Experience in working with complex autistic individuals – Highly Desirable
• Experience in supporting complex autistic individuals with additional needs such as distressing behaviour that challenges, non/pre-verbal communication and sensory dysregulation and challenges – Highly Desirable
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service required or we’re happy to carry out a new one ahead of you starting the position – Essential
• Minimum of 2 good references – Essential
