Description
Axcis is working with alternative provisions supporting young people aged 11 to 16 years who are facing social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges. These provisions support individuals who have gone through extremely difficult life experiences and therefore can display very challenging behaviour.
The provisions are looking for cover teachers who are available to work Monday to Friday weekly during term-time but have the flexibility to work 1-5 days per week. Cover teachers are needed for illness and planned absence cover, the flexibility required is to ensure less change and more consistency within teaching staff.
The school is happy to welcome qualified teachers, unqualified teachers (relatable level 4 or 5 qualifications accepted) and/or early career teachers (ECT), however previous experience of working with individuals with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour is essential. These teaching roles do not include planning and assessment, more so you will be responsible for delivering the pre-planned lesson according to the lesson plan left by the usual teacher. A rudimentary level of planning may be required for illness cover.
Requirements:
• Unqualified Teacher (Level 4 or Level 5 support/teaching qualification) OR Early Career Teacher (completed BEd or PGCE) OR Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – Essential
• Experience in working with individuals that have lived through very challenging life experiences – Desirable
• Experience in supporting individuals who can display challenging behaviour through therapeutic approaches and creating, implementing, and reassessing behaviour management strategies – Desirable
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service required or we’re happy to carry out a new one ahead of you starting the position – Essential
• Minimum of 2 good references – Essential
